The Mary S. Sigourney Award Trust recognizes significant contributions to the field of psychoanalysis made throughout the world. To that end, awards are made over a three-year cycle. In the first year of the cycle, awards are made to persons who are citizens and residents of the United States and to qualifying organizations located in the United States. In the second year, awards are made to persons who are citizens and residents of Western Europe and to qualifying organizations located in Western Europe. In the third year, awards are made to persons who are citizens and residents of, and organizations located in, countries not included in the first two years. Thereafter the cycle repeats.
